New Wedding Albums Go Eco-Friendly with Style
Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) May 13, 2009 -- Wild Magnolia Design today announced the world's first archival, eco-friendly wedding albums. Each album is made completely by hand and incorporates materials such as hemp canvas, vegan silk, and tree-free paper. The albums come in a variety of sizes and are available through select professional photographers, some of which are listed on the Wild Magnolia website. Wild Magnolia Design also offers eco-friendly photographic prints and graphic design services.
"Wild Magnolia Design is, by far, our favorite wedding-album company," stated Jessie Stehlik of Stehlik Photography in Ruskin, Florida. "We're so happy that we finally have an eco-friendly option that keeps us in line with our environmental principles."
Owner and Founder, Rebecca Shostak, is responsible for production of the albums and has spent almost a year developing them. "I wanted to bring photographers and their clients something absolutely unique -- something they hadn't seen before," said Shostak. "But I didn't want sacrifice longevity or quality to have a greener alternative. That's what makes these books special -- they're eco-friendly, but last a lifetime."
For one album cover option, Shostak developed a method of transferring an image onto pure hemp canvas, resulting in a muted "vintage" look, which is extremely popular. "The technique was really a happy accident -- I got lucky. The way the hemp absorbs the inks gives the covers an antique look. Clients are loving it." Other cover options include vegan "Peace Silk," a silk spun from cocoons harvested after the silk moth has flown away.
Wild Magnolia albums also feature handmade endpapers made from renewable and recycled sources, such as mulberry pulp, cotton rag, and even plastic bags.
Shostak is very particular about print quality. "I know photographers take print quality and colors very seriously. I offer two papers -- one 100% recycled, the other pure cotton with a watercolor texture. Both are rated as archival and reproduce images almost exactly the way photographers see them on their computer screen, but are far more eco-friendly than traditional photographic papers."
Meghan Schirmer of Meghan Aileen Photography agrees. "The unique look and amazing quality of the book construction, while still maintaining a handmade quality, is a combination I have not seen before in an album company. Each time I show a client the Wild Magnolia samples, a look of awe and joy comes across their face."
